Singer Sabrina Carpenter has obtained a temporary restraining order against a 31-year-old man she says repeatedly trespassed at her Los Angeles home and attempted to gain access to the property.
According to court filings, the man, identified as William Applegate, allegedly breached security fencing, approached Carpenter's front door, and tried to open it before being arrested on suspicion of criminal trespass.
Carpenter, who says she has never met Applegate, described him as a stranger and expressed fears for her safety after he allegedly returned to her property multiple times following his arrest. Court documents state that the incidents caused significant emotional distress and raised concerns about escalating stalking behavior.
A judge granted the temporary restraining order on May 29, requiring Applegate to stay at least 100 yards away from Carpenter, her home, vehicle, workplace, and certain family members. The order remains in effect pending a court hearing scheduled for June 18.
The case highlights the security risks faced by high-profile public figures and the challenges posed by alleged stalking incidents that can escalate over time.
