Ben Affleck Opens Up About His Feelings Over Netflix’s Output

Ben Affleck Opens Up About His Feelings Over Netflix’s Output

Ben Affleck recently shared how he feels about Netflix’s output and how he views its movie-making process as an ‘assembly line.’ Ben said, “If you ask [Netflix co-CEO and chairman] Reed Hastings…he’d say, ‘Hey, we went for quantity to establish a footprint.'” He continued, “I’m sure there’s wisdom in that, and I’m sure they had a great strategy, but I would have said, ‘How are we going to make 50 great movies? How is that possible?’ There’s no committee big enough. There aren’t enough — you just can’t do it.”

He added, “Making movies is a thing that requires attention and dedication and works, and it resists the sort of assembly line process that Netflix has made its standard. [Netflix’s head of original films] Scott Stuber is a really talented, smart guy who I really like…but it’s an impossible job.” Affleck continued, “There’s bigger audience for action movies than there is for small dramas. I get that. Certain genres play more broadly, and you can’t not be mindful of that. But let’s do a good one, let’s surprise the audience, let’s make them care about it.”

‘Wednesday’ Star Jenna Ortega Explains How She Communicated With A Disembodied Hand On Set

‘Wednesday’ Star Jenna Ortega Explains How She Communicated With A Disembodied Hand On Set

Netflix’s “Wednesday” is a hit with viewers, and one of the series’ characters has an undeniable charm.

“Thing T. Thing” is the sidekick to “Wednesday.”  Jenna Ortega, who plays the lead, explained the process of bringing the dismembered hand to life.  “Tim wanted it to be an actual actor like they did in the 90s films, so it was this magician named Victor [Dorobantu]. He would wear a full blue suit, and he would hide behind walls and underneath beds. Then they built this prosthetic on top of his hand so that it looked like a wrist knob, and he would walk around. Tim really liked his mannerisms, and he would spend hours in hair and makeup every day just getting that hand on.”

Ortega says Thing’s hand movements were a language made up on the spot. “Every day we’d show up and go, “Ahhh…” [hand motions] “That looks right. I feel like I kind of know what he’s saying.”

Dwayne Johnson Visits 7-Eleven Where He Used To Shoplift As A Kid To ‘Right The Wrong’

Dwayne Johnson Visits 7-Eleven Where He Used To Shoplift As A Kid To ‘Right The Wrong’

Dwayne Johnson is clearing up his guilty conscience while back in his hometown in Hawaii. He said, “We were evicted from Hawaii in ’87, and after all these years ― I finally got back home to right this wrong, I finally exorcised this damn chocolate demon that’s been gnawing at me for decades.”

He said that when he was 14, he used to steal king-size Snickers bars from the local 7-Eleven. In a video he shared to his socials, he bought every Snickers bar in the shop and paid for the purchases for all of the customers in the store too. He continued, “We can’t change the past and some of the dumb stuff we may have done, but every once in a while we can add a little redeeming grace note to that situation — and maybe put a big smile on some stranger’s faces.”
