Revivals and reboots – when is enough enough???

It looks like 2017 has been the year for revivals and reboots of films and tv shows. Funny thing is I called it at the beginning of the year. Some movies that are getting redone are worthy of it while others should be left alone in my opinion. Take the Cobra Kai YouTube Red series that’s set to be released in 2018. It’s a continuation of the classic 1984 film The Karate Kid and yes both Billy Zabka and Ralph Macchio will revive their parts and it looks like they will fight as well. Although I don’t feel they should go the route of making it a comedy series.

Now Death Wish is getting redone. Bruce Willis will play the part that Charles Bronson played in the original. I’m totally OK with this as Bruce Willis is a bad-ass anyway so this part works and I think he’ll do it justice. We already talked about Creed 2 and the potential Rocky vs Drago fight so let’s move on.

I’m seeing they wanna make A Christmas Story into a musical to air on the Fox network. All I have to say is — WHY?!?!?!?

Nightmare on Elm Street has been announced to be remade as well. So was Weird Science and most recently Knight Rider. Ok so I can deal with Knight Rider as David Hasselhoff will reprise his roll as Michael Knight in more of a serious reboot. That works for me. The Roseanne series set to hit us as well works for me as long as they stick to what that show was about originally.

I just think the originality and creativity has gone out the window with all this. Sure it’s a nostalgic thing but certain movies and shows should be left alone. Whatever they do please for the love of all that is holy do NOT remake the Breakfast Club or Cheers. My life will have no meaning then LOL.
