Is “Bon Appetit” about Katy and Miley?

I know this sounds totally crazy at first but it makes sense! I was watching the video for ‘Bon Appétit’ (see bottom of page – NSFW) and this was one of the comments —

Let’s break this down and see how it connects to Katy & Miley. I’m throwing Miley Cyrus in too because they’ve been close friends their entire careers and influenced each other’s music.

Innocent Girl Dreaming –

Now if you look at Miley’s career from Disney Channel star to twerking on Robin Thicke and riding naked on a wrecking ball it makes sense. Many singers come from a conservative parents; Katy’s dad is a preacher that’s called her a “devil child” and Miley’s dad is Billy Ray Cyrus. As kids they were raised to be good girls; Katy Perry of course growing up in a strict religious household and Miley Cyrus was one of the biggest stars of the Disney Channel playing Hannah Montana.

Forming the artist / Becoming ‘Hot’

The global recorded music market earned $16.1 billion in revenue last year alone. Labels hire people to know exactly what works and how to transform a talented artist into a superstar.

Miley Cyrus had early success with her show Hannah Montana then with singles ‘Party in the U.S.A.’ and ‘When I Look at You.’ Her career began to slow down after Hannah Montana so she totally changed her image and released ‘We Can’t Stop’ & ‘Wrecking Ball.’ In those videos she became much more adult, wearing less (swinging naked on a wrecking ball) and overall becoming more controversial. This totally changed her image and made her “hot” compared to her ‘good-girl’ Disney Channel image.

Katy Perry didn’t just grow up in a strict household; she actually released a full gospel album ‘Katy Hudson’ in 2001. After that album flopped she got her GED and moved out to Los Angeles when she was 17. She spent 5 years trying get discovered until she finally signed with Capitol when she was 22. Her first single failed to make it on any of the major charts, so she pushed things with what would become her breakout single ‘I Kissed A Girl.’

What do you think?

Do you think there was any intentional connection between this song and the careers of Miley Cyrus & Katy Perry? Is it just a coincidence the video connects with this theory? Or can you not see it at all?
